My contributionI designed and built the desktop app, its local media workflows, and the macOS packaging.

Media to Base64 conversion

The challenge

Preparing visual and audio assets often means moving between several tools. The app brings batch conversions and media utilities into one local workflow without uploading users' files.

The approach

Electron keeps file access and heavy processing in the main process, while React and TypeScript power the interface. Sharp handles images, FFmpeg converts media, and Whisper.cpp can transcribe speech locally when whisper-cli and a model are configured.

What I built

  • Batch-resizes, crops, optimizes and removes image backgrounds; also creates GIFs and converts video and audio
  • Extracts video frames and transcribes speech locally; OCR is not included
  • Encodes or decodes Base64 media and creates SecurePack archives with AES-256-GCM
  • Video exports the full source; trimming a start/end segment is not available yet
